Tournament Results

The submenu presented when you select Reports from the Program Menu shows the various reports available from the Match-Around Program.  These reports are described in the subsections that follow.  Note that the Event Results and Skins Game Results are both displayed on the screen and available as a printed report.  The Hole-By-Hole Scores, Tournament Analysis and Player Summaries reports are available in printed form only; samples of these reports are included in the User Guide.

Event Results
This form obtains your specifications for how you wish to process results.  It is not presented when only Gross scoring has been specified for the tournament and there are no Alternate Tees players.  For Net Results, accepting the default option for Single Set of Results for Entire Field and making a choice as to whether or not you wish to Exclude Gross Winner from Net Results (not doing so is the default) is all you need to do for the format of most Callaway events.

Using the option for Net Results By Flight Based on Gross Score is a good way to balance the Net competition when your player field consists of players with a wide range of skills.  The use of Net Flights in this case will result in players competing against players of comparable ability.  The commonly used option for forming Net Flights is on an Equal Number of Players Per Flight basis, in which case your player field is divided into the number of flights you specify based on Gross score.  For example, if you have 100 players and specify 4 flights, the players with the 25 lowest Gross scores are placed in Net Flight 1; the 25 players with the next lowest Gross scores are placed in Net Flight 2; etc.  If Tiebreaking is specified in your Event Specifications (which we recommend), the tiebreaking method you selected is used to resolve Gross score ties.  If your number of players is not equally divisible by the number of flights you specify, the "extras" are placed in the last flight.

If you choose the option of Scores at Flight Boundaries in Same Flight all players with the same total Gross score are placed in the same flight (tiebreaking is not applied).  The "Equal Number" method with tiebreaking as described above will likely resolve most all Gross score ties, but the "Boundaries" method avoids possible questions by your players.  Note that this method will likely result in a variety of flight sizes.  With both flight formation methods separate Net Results are produced for each flight.

If your tournament includes players from both the Primary Tees and Alternate Tees, you must also select how you wish to process the Alternate Course Results, i.e. as a Single Set of Results that includes both the  Primary Tees and Alternate Tees players or Separate Results by Course.  You will likely choose the latter for Mixed Events that include men and ladies.  If you choose Separate Results by Course, note that tiebreaking is done on a full-field basis.  As a result, player tiebreak information may appear in the separate results where there is not a total score tie.  Ignore tiebreak information if it is not applicable.

Note that there is not an option for Net Results By Flight for tournaments that include Alternate Tees players.  Net Flights are allowed on a full-field basis only.  The Alternate Course Results frame is disabled when you click the Net Results by Flight option button.

When you complete your specifications click the Save button.  You will then see a results display like the one below.

The illustration is for Net Results.  The vertical scroll bar on the right side of the illustration allows you to scroll through the entire set of results.  If your tournament includes both Gross and Net scoring, the Gross Results are displayed first and the command button at the bottom left will have the caption "Net Results." When you click this button the Net Results are displayed (by Flight if specified) and the button caption changes to "Print Report" as illustrated.  When you click the Print Report button printed reports for both Gross and Net Results are produced.  If you do not wish to produce printed reports, or after you click the Print Report button, click the Exit button to return to the Program Menu Screen.

Note the asterisks ( * ) in the "Ties" column of the results display.  These indicate that the tiebreaking method did not resolve the total score tie.  The tiebreaking methods resolve the large majority of ties but there are usually a few that must be resolved by another means of your choice.

Skins Game Results
As with Event Results, Skins Game Results are displayed automatically and also available as a printed report.  For the display, the same presentation sequence as described for Event Results is used (e.g. Gross Results first if applicable, followed by the Net Results and a Print Report button for printing both reports).  Both the displays and printed reports include information about the Carryovers option and, if specified in your Event Information, the Calculated Payoffs option.  The printed report is in the same format as the display and is not illustrated in the User Guide.

Hole-By-Hole Scores Report
These reports (not illustrated here or in the User Guide) are provided for both Gross and Net scoring and are available in printed form only.  They include Player Name, Hole Scores and the Out/In/Total score totals for all players.

Player Summaries
Available in printed form only with three players to a page, this report shows the scoring and Callaway Handicap calculation detail for all players.  A sample for a single player is included in the User Guide.

Tournament Analysis Report
This 3-page report, which you may find useful for evaluating the play of your course and your Handicap Hole Ratings, provides a statistical analysis of the tournament scores.  It includes various statistics for both total scores and scores on each hole -- e.g. High, Low, Average, Strokes Over Par, Number and Percent of Score Types (Pars, Birdies, etc.), Scores Distribution by Range, etc.  An illustration of the Hole-by-Hole Analysis page of the report is included in the User Guide.
