Event Specifications
When you select New Event from the Program Menu you are presented with the following two display screens on which to provide specifications for how you wish to run the event, and to define the golf course on which the event will be played.
Most of the Event Specifications are self-explanatory -- simply complete the various items on the screen. The following is some additional information for your guidance:
-- Either Back Nine Presses or Multiple Presses on Both Nines are supported. Holes Down is the number of holes a player/team must be behind for an automatic Press to be applied. Presses are not applicable for 18-hole-only matches. Swing Team results are based on the Back 9 Only press; the Multiples Presses option is not supported.
-- Wager Amounts must be whole numbers (no decimal places). To specify 18-hole-only matches enter the number Zero (not a blank entry) for the Front/Back Wager Amount(s).
-- For Net Events select the Handicap Strokes Allocation Method that best suits your event. The Differential method is the traditional match play method whereby the lower handicap player plays from scratch (zero handicap) and the higher handicap player receives a number of handicap strokes equal to the difference between the players' full handicaps. With the Full Allocation method both players receive a number of strokes equal to their full handicaps. Example: Player A - 7 handicap, Player B - 10 handicap. With the Differential method Player A plays from scratch (0); Player B receives 3 strokes. With the Full Allocation method Player A receives 7 strokes; Player B receives 10 strokes.
-- For Skins Games Carryovers increase the value of a Skin on holes that follow tied holes. For example, if the value of a Skin is $5 and a hole is tied, the value of a Skin on the next hole is $10.
-- If you choose Calculated Payoffs for Skins Games you may choose either a Fixed Value of all Skins won or a Skin Value determined by: Entry Fee x Number of Participants / Number of Skins Won. If you do not specify Calculated Payoffs the Skins Results Report includes only the names of the Skins winners and the winning hole scores.
Important Note: When you click the Save button to save your specifications for a New Event all of the information for any previous event, including participant scores, is discarded and lost. You can suspend and resume Scoring for an existing event, and you can also reprocess event Results with existing scores and changed specifications via the 'Change Event Specs' choice from the program menu. However, when you select 'New Event' from the menu the program assumes you are starting over with new specifications and new scoring.
In order to do Net scoring the program requires information about your golf course, specifically the Par and Handicap Hole Rating of each hole of the course. This screen is presented immediately after you save your Event Specifications on the screen above. The required information is readily available from a course scorecard.
The information you provide is retained by the program when you click the Save button. For each subsequent New Event the current information is presented for confirmation or change.
