Scorecards Printing

Scorecard Printing is a major feature of the GTM Program and one that can save you a great deal of time in tournament preparation.  Once you have a final grouped Player List, scorecards that are fully "dotted" with handicap strokes allocation are available for all your player groups, in one printing operation or selectively by Group Number.  The cards include Course Information (Hole Numbers, Yardages, Pars and Handicap Hole Ratings) and, if previously provided, Start Time and Tee Assignment.

Note: A special feature of Scorecard Printing allows you print blank cards with only Course Information shown.  This feature is activated via the Course Information Only on Card checkbox.  See the "Blank Scorecards" section near the bottom of this Help Topic for information about this feature.  The information that precedes this section applies to standard scorecards that include player information.

When you select Scorecard Printing from the Preparation Menu you are presented with a Scorecards Printing Options screen, the completion of which is pretty much self-explanatory. Simply click the appropriate option buttons to make your choices for Printer Type, Color Mode, Player Groups to Include (ALL or Selective by Group Number), Card Content (All players in a player group or a Single card for each player), Extra Scorecard Line (for entry of Best Ball scores), and Handicaps Basis (18 Holes or 9 Holes).

You also have the option to print or not print handicap strokes via the Show Handicap Strokes on Card checkbox. You will likely leave this box checked except perhaps for Gross Scramble events.

When you choose to print cards for Selective Player Groups the Selective Group Numbers area at the bottom of the screen is activated for your entry of the desired Group Numbers.

You must have provided Course Definition as part of your Tournament Information before you do scorecard printing.  And, of course, you must have prepared a final grouped Player List.  If you wish to include Start Times and Tee Numbers these must also have been assigned.  You may also include up to two Message Lines of up to 70 characters each.  These lines are useful for advising your players of things like tournament format, times for the award presentation and lunch/dinner, a "Play Well" or "Good Luck" message, etc.  When you complete your specifications simply click the Print Cards button to print the scorecards you have selected.

Important Note: If your tournament involves players playing from both the Primary and Alternate Tees (e.g. as in an event where men and ladies are playing from different tees), Alternate Tee players must have a Slash Character ( / ) as the first character of their name entry in your Player List.  If your Player List is prepared by one of the Player Group Pairing methods from the Pairings Menu, the Slash Character is inserted automatically by the program; you needn't be concerned about the requirement.  However, if you prepare your Player List via the Player List Create feature from the Preparation Menu, you must provide the Slash Character as the first character of your player name entry (e.g. /Mary Smith).

Blank Scorecards
As noted above you have the option to print "blank" scorecards by checking the Course Information Only on Card checkbox.  When you choose this option the only areas of the options screen that you are required to complete are Printer Type and Number of Cards.  The provision of Message Lines and Extra Scorecard Line are optional - use them if you wish.  Also, and importantly, you do not need to create a Player List to print blank scorecards; if a Player List exists for the tournament its contents are ignored in blank card printing.  However, you must provide Course Definition and Tournament Information.  If you wish to include the Extra Scorecard Line for best ball scoring, you must select the appropriate Team Scoring categories (Gross and/or Net) and the desired Number of Balls in your Tournament Information.  If you do so, use the "Standard" Team Scoring format.

Scorecard forms are available from SportsWare for use with most printers supported under Windows.  We strongly recommend Hewlett Packard or Hewlett Packard-compatible laser printers for best results.  The scorecard forms are perforated for convenient folding for use on golf carts, and also have a removable "Marker's Score" area.  A sample completed scorecard is shown below and illustrated in the User Guide. See the Customer News page of our website at www.sportswaregolf.com for current pricing of Scorecard forms.
