Scores Entry -- 18-Hole Scoring
Your entry of player scores to the GTM Program is accomplished via a straightforward entry screen that is presented whenever you select Start New Scoring or Resume Previous Scoring from the Scoring submenu.
Before the score entry screen is activated an overlay screen is presented for your choice of whether or not to print Foursome Summaries during score entry. Simply check or uncheck the checkbox to specify your choice. These reports provide a complete hole-by-hole summary of all Individual and Team scoring for a player group. They are often used for reporting scores to a tournament scoreboard, and can be given to your players for "19th-hole conversation." We suggest that you print the Foursome Summaries for a small sample tournament to determine if they are useful for your events.
Scores Entry
To score or rescore a player group enter a Group Number and press the Tab Key. If the group has not been scored previously the Player Names and Handicaps will be shown and you may proceed to enter hole scores. If scores exist for the group they are also presented for confirmation or change.
To do scoring simply enter hole scores in the appropriate score boxes. Note the following about scores entry and navigating around the entry screen:
-- Movement from hole to hole is automatic as you enter scores. If you wish to move
among score boxes use the Tab Key or Enter Key, or click the mouse on the desired
score box.
-- Use Function Keys (F10, F11, F12 and F3 to F9) to enter hole scores greater than 9.
-- If you wish to change an existing hole score you must first delete the existing score.
-- The OUT and IN scores are presented when you complete scoring for each 9 holes.
The TOTAL and NET (if applicable) scores are presented when you complete scoring
for all 18 holes.
-- For Callaway players, if the hole score you enter is greater than Double Par the actual
score is presented, highlighted in Red. But, per Callaway rules, only Double Par for the
hole is used to compute the Callaway Handicap, which is shown when you complete
scoring for all 18 holes.
-- You do not have to provide complete scoring for the player group. You may enter partial
scores at one time and return later to the group to complete scoring. This feature is
especially useful in a Shotgun event. You can collect and enter partial scores during
play and thus reduce the scoring burden at the end of play.
-- When you have entered all the scores you wish to provide click the Save Scores
button. The word "CONFIRM" will appear in the INITIAL/CONFIRM box. If you wish to
make score changes, do so and click the Save Scores button again; the word
"RECONFIRM" will appear and will continue to appear until you click the Save Scores
button without having made any score changes. Your scoring is then saved and you
are presented with an empty screen for entry of the next Group Number to be scored.
-- If your tournament includes Team Scoring the hole-by-hole and total team scores are
displayed when you click the Save Scores button and you have scored all players in
the player group.
-- For Scramble Team Scoring only one scores line is activated for entry of the player
group (Team) hole scores.
When you have finished scoring all desired player groups click the Exit Scoring button. You are presented with a prompt box with which you specify whether to End Scoring and compile tournament results, or to not prepare results and Resume Scoring later. You can resume scoring as often as you wish before preparing final results. If you choose to compile tournament results and scoring has not been completed for all player groups, the overlay screen on the left is presented to show you the groups that have not been completely scored. You are then presented with a prompt box from which you can choose to go back to Scoring or process Results without the incomplete groups.
Player Group Changes During Scoring
We strongly recommend that your Player List be finalized before you start scoring. However, we recognize that last-minute changes are a fact of tournament life. If you need to make player group changes after you've started scoring, click the Change Group Info button. An overlay screen much like that used for Player List Create/Update is presented with the player group's information and you can make changes as you wish. When you click the Save Changes button the scores entry screen is reactivated and any previously entered scoring is updated with any changed handicap information. If you substitute a player (or change spelling of a player name) after scores have been entered on the score line on which the player name was changed, the hole scores for the previous player name are removed and you must re-enter scores for the changed player.
Note: Do not use the Player Group Changes feature to delete a player without substitution. Instead, simply don't score the player. You are notified of unscored players when you exit scoring and have the option of compiling results without the unscored players -- see Incomplete Scoring above.
Again, we strongly recommend that you finalize your Player List before you start scoring. Player group changes during scoring slow down your scoring work.
