Net Scramble Handicap Options
Scramble tournaments are usually conducted on a Gross Score basis with player groups comprised such that the Team Handicaps are approximately equal. For example, for a 4-person Scramble team pairings are usually done on an ABCD basis where each team has a player in each of the four handicap ranges.
The GTM Program gives you the flexibility to conduct a Net Scramble if you wish. This format might be used where the player groups are arranged without regard to player handicaps. If you select the Scramble format for Team Net scoring you are presented with this screen for your choice of how you wish to compute Player Group Handicaps (Team Handicaps) and your specification of any Percentage of Player Group Handicap to be applied. There are three choices for handicap method -- Average of All Players, Average of a Selected Number of Players, and Lowest Player Handicap in the Group. Many tournament organizers believe that the results of a Scramble event are influenced primarily by the two lowest-handicap players in a player group, i.e. the A and B players. In that case you may wish to use the average of two selected players; if so, note that the two players must be the first two players in the player group.
Note that you can do both Gross and Net Scramble Scoring in a tournament. To do so simply check the Team Gross and Team Net checkboxes on the Tournament Specifications screen that is part of Tournament Information, and select the Scramble option button for the scoring format.
Scores entry for a Scramble is the same as that for 18-Hole Scoring except that only one scores line is used for entry of the team hole scores.
