Player Selection From Master Player List
The first step in preparing a Player List for a tournament via the program's Pairings features is to select the tournament participants from your Master Player List. When you select Player Selection from the Pairings Menu you are first presented with the following window for choosing the sequence in which you wish to have the Master Player List presented for selection -- by Player Last Name or Handicap Index/Course Handicap. If you choose Index / Hcp, Handicap Indexes are used if they are present; otherwise Course Handicaps are used.
When you click the Name or Index / Hdcp option button the following window gives you the means to select your players. The only active items in the main part of the window are the SELECT check boxes. Simply click for box for each player you wish to include in the player field for the tournament - a check mark will appear in the box (to deselect a player click the box to make it blank).
If you have previously selected players for the selected tournament slot the previous selections will be shown. Click the Deselect All button to clear the existing selections. In the unlikely case that you wish to select all the players click the Select All button. If your Master Player List contains more than 30 players, Previous and Next buttons are shown and may be used to navigate through the Master Player List.
Note the Maximum Handicap, Percent of Handicaps and Slope Ratings text boxes at the top of the window. You may modify these as you wish. If you choose a Percent of Handicaps less than 100% the Course Handicap information on the screen is not changed. However, your final Player List and reports from it will shown the 'Handicap Used' for each selected player based on the percentage you provide. If you modify the Maximum Handicap or Slope Ratings, new Course Handicaps are displayed when you exit the text box via the Tab Key. The highest permitted Maximum Handicap is 54. The Selected Players box is updated automatically as you select players and gives you a convenient means to keep track of your selections.
If you wish to print a report of your selected players click the Print Report button; this should be done before you click the Save/Exit button.
When you exit the Player Selection window via the Save/Exit button, a Tournament Players List is created. This list will used as the basis for grouping and/or flighting your selected players in a final Player List that can be used with other program features such as Start Time/Tee Assignments, Scorecards, Cart Signs and Scoring. Note that the Tournament Players List at this point consists only of players selected from the Master Player List. If you wish to add players other than those in the Master Player List (e.g. outside players for a Member-Guest tournament), use the Tournament Players List selection from the Pairings Menu.
Important Note: Whenever you exit the Player Selection screen any previous grouping or flighting you have done for the selected tournament is discarded (the program assumes that you are starting over with new player selections). A message window informs you of this situation and the fact that you need to perform the grouping and/or flighting tasks.
