Introduction to GHM

Welcome

Welcome to the Golf Handicaps Manager (GHM) Program.  This native-Windows program replaces the DOS version that has provided full-featured handicapping service to customers across the world since 1988.  All of the features of the DOS version remain, as does the basic content of the various screens used in program operation and the way you accomplish handicapping tasks.  However, the native Windows environment provides many advantages in ease of use, flexibility and the speed with which you and your players interact with the program.

GHM is fully compliant with the USGA Handicap System

The Handicap Indexes produced by the program are "Official" USGA Handicap Indexes

GHM supports the entry of handicap scores by both of two methods: Staff Entry where player scores are collected via scorecards or posting sheets and entered into the system by the staff, and Player Entry where the players themselves enter their scores and/or view their current handicap information.  There's a complete range of "backroom" handicap maintenance features for adding players, changing player information, activating and deactivating players, assigning players to various subgroups for selective reporting, performing handicap recalculations (handicap revisions), etc.  There's also the most complete set of handicap reports in the golf industry and the capability to produce handicaps cards/labels in a variety of forms -- including the capability for players to print their own labels via an optional Handicap Card Printer.  Also included are interfaces to our Golf Tournament Management (GTM) Program for exporting player information to the Pairings Master Player List and importing tournament scores into the handicap system.  The Player Entry feature is enhanced by an optional ScorePad, a small keypad with keys that are wording-matched and color-matched to what the player sees on the screen.

Most all of the program features are described and illustrated in this Help System, which is another significant advantage of this GHM version. .  Assistance in use of the program is now available "online" as you work instead of having to consult a printed manual.  (A printed User Guide is available but its content is limited primarily to installation instructions and providing information about the USGA Handicap System.)  The remainder of this Help Topic provides links to information about all of the major features of the program, organized by the sequence and content of selections from the Program Menus.  The Help System is available to you from The "Help" item on the menus and from most of the program's individual screens. In the latter case, all you need to do is press the F1 Function Key on your keyboard when a screen is visible (or the Help Button on Player Entry screens).  Once you are into the primary Help System by any means, Contents and Index tabs are available for access to other Help Topics.

Note: Help for the screens in the Player Scores Entry feature is independent of the primary Help System, except for use of the F1 Key (or the Help Button) to access the primary Help System from the Bulletin Board Screen.  Players can access specific assistance for the task they are performing by clicking a Help Button that is present on all of the Player Entry screens, or by pressing the F1 ketboard key.
