Player Maintenance

The centerpiece for player handicap information and for many of your handicapping tasks is the Player Maintenance Screen illustrated below.  From this screen you can view the current handicap information for the players in your handicap database.  Access to individual players can be done in a variety of ways via the command buttons at the top of the screen.  The Next Player and Previous Player buttons take you through your players one at a time, alphabetically by default or by Player ID if you access any player by ID.  Players may be accessed directly entering the player's ID number in the Player ID: text box and  clicking the Access by ID button, or by entering the first few letters of the player's last name in the Name: text box and clicking the Access by Name button; once you access a player by either of these methods, the program moves to the specified player in the handicap database and the Next Player and Previous Player buttons operate from that point.

The player information area of the screen provides a summary of a player's basic handicap information: Handicap Index, Home Course Handicap, Total Differential and Period Rounds.  Both USGA (Official) information from the last handicap revision and Trend (Instant) information based on all scores entered to date are shown.  The Period Rounds number reflects the number of rounds posted since the count of Rounds Played was reset via Period Initialization in the System Functions section of the program.  Most usually this reset is done at the start of a new season and Period Rounds reflects season-long score postings.  However, some users may wish to reset the count at other points in time during the season.  If a player's Handicap Index has been adjusted by the Exceptional Tournament Scores provision of the USGA Handicap System, or by the Handicap Committee, the USGA handicap information is colored Red and the reason for the adjustment is noted to the right of the information.

The center area of the screen contains the details of a player's posted scores, starting with up to the most recent 20 scores.  If a player has posted more than 20 scores the Earlier Scores button can be used to access up to the next 20 scores.  This button is like a "toggle switch" with which you can switch back and forth between the last 20 and earlier scores.  Note that the scores are "coded" by designation, color and highlighting to reflect their type (18-Hole, 9-Hole or 18-Hole Tournament) and whether or not they are used in the USGA, Trend or Both USGA and Trend handicap calculations (the "UTB" designations).  Display of this area of the screen is optional; you may turn it on and off with the Summary/Detail button at the bottom of the screen.

The command buttons at the bottom of the screen provide access to various handicap maintenance tasks.  Click on the Related Topics links below for the details of each of these tasks.  When you are finished with your player maintenance tasks click the Exit button to return to the Handicap Maintenance Menu.
