Tournament Players List

The Tournament Players List is the base from which you perform player grouping and/or flighting.  As shown by the above menu choices, it can be  created and updated for the currently selected tournament, or formed by merging existing Tournament Players Lists from two separate tournaments.  The subsection below describes your normal use of the feature; a following subsections describes the Merge feature.

Create/Update for Currently Selected Tournament
The Tournament Players List is created in one of two ways:

          1. Automatically when you select players from a Master Player List via the Player Selection choice on
the Pairings Menu.  In this case the primary use of the screen illustrated below is to add "outside"
players to those selected from the Master Player List, e.g. the guests in a Member-Guest tournament.

          2. "From Scratch" by completing the information on the screen illustrated below.  Use this method when
you want to create a list independently from your Master Player List, e.g. for a tournament comprised
of all "outside" players and where you want to do automatic pairing and/or flighting.  Note: if player
groupings (i.e. who plays with whom), and flights, if used, have been predefined, you will likely find it
easier to prepare your final grouped Player List via the Create New Player List choice from the
Preparation Menu rather than using a Tournament Players List.

When you first access this screen the only part of it that is visible is the information at the top of the screen, with the Display Players By frame enabled.  You may change the Maximum Handicap, Percent of Handicaps and Slope Ratings if you wish.  If you choose a Percent of Handicaps less than 100% the Course Handicap information on the screen is not changed. However, your final Player List and reports from it will shown the 'Handicap Used' for each selected player based on the percentage you provide.  If you modify the Maximum Handicap or Slope Ratings, new Course Handicaps are displayed when you exit the text box via the Tab Key.  The highest permitted Maximum Handicap is 54.

When you click the As Is, Name or Index / Hdcp option button in the Display Players By frame, the list, if one exists, for the selected tournament will appear in the corresponding sort sequence (if a list does not exist the Display Players By frame is not activated).  If you choose Index / Hdcp, Handicap Indexes are used if they are present; otherwise the list is sorted by Course Handicap.  If a list appears and you wish to create a new list, click the Clear List button.

All fields in the list portion of the screen are usable for changing player information or adding new players.  If your list goes beyond 30 players, Previous and Next buttons are displayed for use in navigating through the complete list.  When your work is complete, if you wish to print a report of your tournament players click the Print Report button; this should be done before you click the Save/Exit button.

When you exit the screen via the Save/Exit button, the Tournament Players List is saved.  This list will used as the basis for grouping and/or flighting your players in a final grouped Player List that can be used with other program features such as Start Time/Tee Assignments, Scorecards, Cart Signs and Scoring.

Important Note: Whenever you exit the Tournament Players List screen any previous grouping or flighting you have done for the selected tournament is discarded (the program assumes that you are starting over with new players).  A message window informs you of this situation and the fact that you need to perform the grouping and/or flighting tasks.

Merge of Two Existing Tournament Players Lists
There may be occasions where you wish to combine a Tournament Players List from another tournament with the Tournament Players List for the currently selected tournament.  The Merge feature provides this capability.  When you select the feature from the submenu an input box is presented for your entry of the Tournament Number for which you wish to merge its Tournament Players List.  The program then automatically merges the two lists and presents you the merged list on the screen illustrated above.  Note that the two lists must exist for their respective Tournament Numbers before a merge can be done (i.e. must have been created by one of the two methods described in the previous subsection).
