Player Scores Entry - Player Access Code
The Player Access Code is a "pin-code-like" security feature of the handicap system. When the code exists for a player it must be entered along with the Player ID in order to post a score, which provides a control over a player entering scores for other players. You establish the security method you wish to use via your Player Entry System Parameters.
The usual practice is to have players assign their own Access Code. If a code has not been assigned the player simply enters the code he/she wishes to use in the Enter New Code text box. The code can be from 1 to 5 characters. If, as illustrated, a code exists for a player, the Enter Current Code text box is presented; the player can then change the code by entering the Current Code and then a New Code.
Beginning with Version W1.0.2 the use of Access Codes is optional. The option to not use Access Codes is provided to cover an exception situation where a player can enter an Access Code for another player if the other player does not have an existing code. However, we recommend that Access Codes be used as the preferred security measure for most situations and that you cover the exception situation via communication to your players. How you specify use or non-use of Access Codes is described in the Player Entry Parameters section of the System Parameters Help topic.
Important Note: If you are using the optional SportsWare ScorePad keyboard, the Access Codes must be numeric (numbers only).
Access Codes are retained as part of a player's handicap record. If a player forgets his/her code it can be obtained via the Change Info button on the player's Player Maintenance Screen. Although not the usual practice, Access Codes also can be assigned via this screen.
