Tournament Scoring

Scoring your match-around tournament is a simple matter selecting one of the menu options above, entering a Match Number for each match, and entering the hole scores for the players in the match. The program takes care of all the rest, including the calculation of all Points based on your specifications provided in Tournament Information.  You have the option to print a Match Summary Report during Scoring when you complete the scoring of a match.  This detailed summary of individual match results is illustrated in the User Guide.

Because of the multiple-round format of match-around tournaments you will be entering scores and producing the cumulative Tournament Results after each round.  Thus, you will Start NEW Scoring just once for the first round of matches and Resume CURRENT Scoring for the remaining rounds of matches.  Be careful with the Start NEW Scoring menu choice -- when you select it any existing scoring is destroyed (the program thinks you are starting to score a new tournament.)

You will find this Scores Entry form easy to use. All you need to do is enter the Match Number of the match you wish to score, press the Tab Key, enter the players' gross hole scores and press the Save button to save the scores. Movement from hole to hole is automatic as you enter scores.  You can also get to any hole score field by using the mouse.

Note that the program automatically shows the Hole Numbers played based on the Starting Hole of the match (Holes 10 to 18 in the illustration), and displays the Handicap Stokes being used under the score line for each player (strokes are allocated based on the lowest handicap in the match, and the relative Handicap Hole Ratings of the nine holes actually played).

Be aware of the following in your use of the Scores Entry form:

-- Match Number coding consists of a Flight Number followed by the Team Numbers of the

two teams in the match.  In the example, Match Number 312 means Teams 1 and 2 in

        Flight 3.

-- You must completely score a match (or Cancel its scoring) each time you enter a Match

Number.  Note the use of the Function Keys on the keyboard for the entry of double-digit

scores.  Because of the match play nature of the tournament it's possible that there will

be some "No Scores" (Pickups) on some holes; in this case enter a high number that will

not affect the win/lose result of the hole (Blanks and "X" are not allowed).

-- Notice the Green Box above the hole numbers.  When you access a Match Number that has

not been scored the word INITIAL will appear in this box.  When you enter all the player

scores and click the Save button the word CONFIRM will appear and the Match Results are

presented in the frame at the bottom of the form.  If no score changes need to be made, click

the Save button again; the form will be cleared and an Exit Scoring button will appear.  You

may then enter another Match Number for additional scoring or click the Exit Scoring

button to return to the Program Menu Screen.  If you wish to make hole score changes, do

so and click the Save button; the word RECONFIRM will appear in the Green Box and will

continue to appear until you click the Save button without having made any score changes.

The Match Results are updated each time you make score changes.

-- Matches can be rescored at any time.  In this case the word CONFIRM will appear in the

Green Box and the existing scores and Match Results are presented on the form.  Proceed

as above to make the desired score changes.

That's all there is to Scoring!  It's an optional feature of the program, but using it will ensure that your scoring and Match Results are accurate, and will give you a scoring record of the tournament.
